Twisted tree trunk
Early one morning in June, I'd walked past this many times before and knew that at sometime I would make a picture of it.
I had to wait for an overcast but bright day to do it the tree is in quite dense woodland.
From my SoFoBoMo project.

Old Lead mine rocks
I liked the way the small tree had tried but failed to grow amongst the tumbled rocks.
Somewhere in the tangle of rocks and undergrowth will be the shaft of an old drift mine.
The ridge was mined two hundred years ago and the shafts covered with rocks to prevent the adventurous entering.
From my SoFoBoMo project.

Sapling in the morning light
Growing valiantly against all the odds
The pale freshness of its leaves stands out amongst the complex web of bracken, rock, trunks and branches.
All compete for ground space and daylight.
From my SoFoBoMo project.

Quarry wall
An abandoned quarry left to crumble in the weather.
Frost fissures and tumbling scree, soon there will be plants and trees.
I like the shapes and the huge jutting boulder in the centre.
From my Rock and Walls Project

Gate and post
I really liked the texture of this old gate.
The gate had been made properly with wooden dowels to hold it together.
Its post now split and the hinge bar rusted away the gate just rests against the post.
From my SoFoBoMo project.

Wall and grasses
An ancient wall that has been there so long plants are growing within it.
It was the differing textures that drew me to this, that and the strong horizontals in the wall and the strong verticals in the grass.
All offset by the jumble of grass and flowers at the base of the wall.
From my SoFoBoMo project.

Stone and Stones
At a field edge by Dalebank is this pile of rock and stones.
Perhaps tipped there to make a wall, but now forgotten and gradually being grown over.
The juxtaposition of the still smooth surface of the larger stone intrigued me.
From my SoFoBoMo project.

Squeeze stile Milltown
A stile by Milltown and a summery evening.
As this came upon me I realised that I could make a high key black and white image from the scene.
What I liked most about it is the way the footpath is defined by shadow.
From my SoFoBoMo project.
